Gym, Regensburg (Regensburg, Germany, 2004)
- Type of project:
- Integration type:
The most striking
feature of this gym is the south façade, whose top half is made up of 56
semitransparent polycrystalline modules. Spacing of the silicon cells is 20 mm.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Research calculated this to be the
ideal cell spacing for glare-free lighting of the gym. At the same time, the
silver coating and the solar cells reflect most of the sunlight. Hence, the PV
modules also act as a shading element and reduce heat input into the gym
(SOLARINTEGRATION.DE).
