Warm façades

A warm façade fulfils all building envelope tasks such as load bearing, thermal insulation, and weatherproofing/noiseproofing. Warm façades are not ventilated, which is why the PV modules yield slightly less energy due to heat-up.

Insulated glazing can be replaced with PV modules in the transparent or semitransparent areas of the façade. Hence, skylights or – with suitable transparency – also window areas can fulfil an additional photovoltaic function. Particularly on large areas of glazing, the modules can thus provide shading and diffuse light. This shading saves energy and costs of cooling the building.
